8] So Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. [9] Then he said, “If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us……… (Exodus 34:8-9 NKJV)
Moses did not know that centuries later, Prophet Isaiah would foretell the coming of Jesus Christ as Immanuel meaning ‘God with us’—a prophecy ultimately fulfilled in Matthew 1:23, revealing Jesus’ time on earth as a blueprint for believers, which demonstrated that intimacy with God the Father is vital.
Ultimately, both Mathew 1 vs 23 and John 1 vs 14 emphasize Jesus as God dwelling with us. Proving that from the very beginning, despite the fall of Adam, God’s eternal blueprint was always to dwell intimately with humanity through Jesus.
Jesus’ arrival on earth was a divine partnership with humanity through which redemption, mercy, grace, goodness, truth, forgiveness, and blessings were all birthed for both us and our generations yet unborn (John 1:14).
Because God is amongst us, ultimately through Jesus, He has gone ahead of us and disarmed the devil and his hosts (Colossians 2:15) meaning all battles have been won on our behalf. In return, He also expects us to be discerning in our relationships and partnerships, for the world is not meant to influence us, rather, as salt and light, we are called to influence the world and draw people to God through Christ.
God’s presence amongst us also dismantles every false god—both material and immaterial.Today, Jesus lives inside us through the Holy Spirit.
Furthermore, God’s presence also births personal covenant with us and our descendants, through absolute obedience to divine instructions in the place of prayer.
Jesus’ coming also displays God’s overwhelming generosity toward mankind, and in response, we are called to be generous toward God as well. He gives us rest and enlarges our territory, bringing increase and abundance into our lives (Exodus 34:11, Hebrews 4 vs 9-10, Matthew 11:28-30).
Finally, with God being amongst us, we are to constantly acknowledge and insulate ourselves in the precious blood of Jesus that was shed for us.
In conclusion, Moses’ ancient prayer has become our daily reality. We no longer serve a distant God; we walk with Immanuel every single day. Because He dwells within us, we have the victory over every battle, protection through His blood, and the power to influence the world around us.
Let us step out today in absolute obedience, secure in His presence, and fully aware that the Creator of the universe has chosen to make our hearts His home. The battle is won, the covenant is secure, and God is truly with us.
