So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle. (Exo 33 vs 11).
Joshua did not depart from the tabernacle because he had a deep hunger for God’s presence, an intense desire for personal intimacy with the Divine, and a duty to guard the sacred space. While Moses returned to the camp to handle leadership responsibilities, Joshua chose to remain behind, lingering in the atmosphere of glory that had just filled the tent.
As believers, being led by the Spirit of God is not a temporary event but a continuous lifestyle of staying anchored in God’s presence, where our devotion outlasts our external duties.
Choosing a lifestyle of remaining in His presence offers us profound rewards such as:
- Gracious living, we find grace in His sight.
- Constant guidance for daily decisions.
- Reflection of His Glory, He robs off His glory on us.
- Supernatural rest amid life’s chaotic storms.
- Spiritual sharpness that keeps our faith alive and highlights our uniqueness.
- Sharpens our knowledge of His innumerable inheritance, which he has set for us the saints.
- Deep alignment with God’s ultimate purpose.
- Finally, the reward offers His judgement on a matter, that is, His Word concerning any and every situation in our life’s.
Joshua’s determination to stay back serves as a timeless blueprint for every believer. His choice proves that intimacy with God requires intentional lingering. It is in the quiet spaces, long after the crowd leaves, that true spiritual transformation happens.
Similarly, Jesus Christ demonstrated this ultimate devotion during his earthly ministry. He consistently withdrew to solitary places, anchoring His life and ministry in unbroken fellowship with the Father. While duty may call on you for an assignment, devotion keeps your heart anchored in His glory. Make the choice daily to be like Jesus and refuse to depart hastily from the place where God speaks.

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, your word says whoever calls on the name of the Lord and confesses Jesus as his Lord and believes in his heart that He was raised from the dead will be saved. (Roms 10 vs 9-13). I call on your name Jesus and I confess you as my Lord I believe that you were raised from the dead to pay for my sins and I thank you for doing that for me. Now I know I’m saved in Jesus name amen)
